Digital Product Authentication Options

Follow

Infobase Learning supports multiple types of authentication for its digital products, allowing members of approved educational institutions to seamlessly access their online Databases, Streaming Video Collections, and eBook Collections.

Configuration and technical support of the methods listed below all come at no additional cost to our customers.

Username/Password

Each customer account can have one universal username and password that can be used to log in to any of our products.  This username and password can be shared with faculty and students within the school or library.  This option can be great for institutions that want remote access; without additional setup or software.

IP Authentication

IP-based authentication is designed to give users direct access to an institution's Online Database, Streaming Video, or eBook Collection, bypassing the username and password login.  If an institution has a static IP address or a range of IP addresses through which it connects to the internet, IP authentication can provide easy and secure access to all authorized content and the full feature set of our digital platforms.

EZproxy

Any institution using EZproxy as its authentication system can utilize this same tool to authorize access to all Infobase Online Products.  After a simple setup process, educators and/or students can view their authorized content by using the same credential that they use to log in to the campus-wide EZproxy system.

Referring URL

Referring URL authentication provides institutions with a simply way to identify users from a specific institution based on a URL and then automatically route them to their available content from Infobase Learning.

Barcode Recognition

If your patrons are already assigned a barcode number to access other library assets, we can utilize this same method with your Infobase subscriptions.  When configured, this will replace the Username/Password option for your account.

XML Gateways

An XML Gateway can provide a much needed "communication bridge" between our content and any Federated Search Engine that you may be using.  This gateway quickly indexes search results of our database in the universal XML format that can then be parsed with search results from other sources.  Infobase Learning is currently building XML Gateways to support specific digital products.  For more information and to find out about product availability, email our Support Team at support@infobaselearning.com.

Query String URL (SSO)

Currently available for our Streaming Video Platform only, you can utilize our dynamic Query String URL technology to create a true Single-Sign On experience for you students and teachers.  By passing several key SSO parameters in conjunction with your Account Specific Access URL, users can be logged in automatically to their personal user accounts or have a new user account created for them.

LTI

Currently available for our Streaming Video Platform only, you can now connect your Learning Management System to your Infobase products.  LTI is a framework developed by the IMS Global Learning Consortium to provide a standard for secure, real-time communication between learning tools and third-party applications.  It allows content providers like Infobase Learning to create a "plug-in" for top Learning Management Systems, making their LMS a one-stop solution for educators to create course assignments that contain external media assets.

LDAP

Currently available for Streaming Video Platform only, you can now connect your LDAP user-base to your Infobase products.  The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an open, vendor-neutral, industry application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol (IP) network.  A common use of LDAP is to provide a central place to store usernames and passwords.  This allows many different applications and services to connect to the LDAP server to validate users.

Google Sign-In

Currently available as a free, included service for our Streaming Video Platform and select Online Databases.  Google Sign-In provides an easy way for students and faculty at Google Apps for Education (GAFE) schools to link their Google accounts with the accounts for the products.

If you have any questions or would like more detailed information about configuring any of the authentication methods listed above, please contact our Infobase Technical Support Team at support@infobaselearning.com, or 1-800-322-8755.
