What is Cloud Hosting?
The ability to have your files stored off-network in the cloud frees up needed server space and bandwidth on your network. It also grants users access to these files from any internet-connected device. This service also provides unlimited access to your hosted files. Playlists can be created, modified and shared while on the go and your My Content is also readily available. This is also a great way to share your links and segments.
What can I upload?
Any video or audio file can be uploaded and shared using this service. Additionally, PDF resources can be uploaded and associated to any previously uploaded video or audio file in your account. The following list of file formats are supported.
Media File Formats: Mpeg-4 and QuickTime Formats (MP4, MOV, QT, and M4V), Flash Video (FLV and F4V), Microsoft Windows Formats (AVI, ASF, WMV, and WMA), MPEG-1/2 (MPG, M1V, M2V, MP3), WAV, Matroska (MKV), OGG OGM & OGV, WEBM, 3GP, RM, Webex (ARF), MXF
How we protect our customer’s content
All content hosted with Infobase is on a world-class CDN (content delivery network) that has its own basic server and file protection services in place. We do not offer downloading of content, which helps combat unauthorized sharing. Since we are not YouTube, none of the YouTube download browser extensions will work on our content, which is primarily how content on YouTube is pirated.
In addition to all of this, we can enable AES encryption on every file as an optional, no-charge function. AES encryption will protect the video stream delivery between our CDN and the requesting computer, preventing anyone from trying to intercept the stream and make a copy of the content. AES encryption also means that someone could not simply take the stream URL from the player source code and use it somewhere outside of FOD.
Uncapped amount of student access
Like all of our products, we don't limit the number of views over a period of time. Hosted custom content pricing is based on the number of titles hosted and the amount of storage space they occupy not the use of these files.
Use of Proxy Links
By hosting with Infobase over YouTube is that our custom content shares the same embed and linking functionality that core FOD (Films on Demand) titles have in place, which means that any proxy prefix applied to the account would also apply to any hosted custom content.
Ability to Create Customized Homepage Sliders
The content found on the homepage is organized into category based sliders, which can be configured and reordered as desired within your admin portal. When you hover over any of the content in the sliders, you will see an arrow on the far right to scroll through the rest of the content in the slider.
Access to Additional Metadata Fields
This is an opportunity to add as much information pertaining to the video as desired.
Ability to Create Segments (clips)
Custom Content is an included offering available for uploading up to 10 titles to be hosted through Infobase free of charge. When additional content is needed we offer larger capacity plans. Our pricing and additional services are listed below.
Add Custom Content to Playlists
Content can be added to playlists using the Add To page tool. This page tool can be found on all search results and media viewing pages when the content-type is supported. Click on the Add To link, and then the Add to Playlist tab.
Support for Closed Captions
Pre-existing closed caption files may be uploaded via the admin portal for NO additional charge. They must be in one of two accepted formats (DFXP, SRT). Once your title is ready and has been uploaded, click on the title and there will be a "captions" button on the top right where you may upload the caption files. Multiple language files can be uploaded for the same title.
